Unijobs on behalf of the HSE are currently recruiting for the position of Grade VII Data Analyst, the ideal candidate will have previous experience with ETL tools such as Databricks, SQL, SSAS, SSIS, ADF etc.. The successful candidate will have a working week of 35 hours Monday to Friday and the candidate must be available to start immediately. The salary for this post will be €53,121.

There are 3 core elements to this role;

  • Fulfilling the role of a Technical Lead


The Data Analyst fulfils the role of the Technical Lead for one or more work streams of activity occurring within the Data Services team. They work alongside Project Managers and a diverse team of skilled colleagues to deliver data solutions.

The Technical Leads of work streams are accountable for the architecture, design, quality, stability and resiliency of the solutions their work streams are delivering. They play a crucial role in the leadership, coaching and personnel development of other members on the team. They foster a culture of respect and collaboration among the team towards achieving solutions. They also perform "learning reviews" ("Just Culture") of incidents to ensure we are always learning and improving.



  • Data Analysis


  • Design and build modern data pipelines and data streams as per service needs.
  • Using the full end to end Microsoft Stack to deliver data solutions for UL Hospitals.
  • An ability to understanding complex data challenges and derive solutions.
  • Design, build and maintain a variety of different data storage solutions such as relational databases, non-relational databases, data lakes etc.
  • Use of programming languages to perform complex queries of data stored.
  • Developing, running, and quality checking reports for various systems.
  • Work with stakeholders towards improving data capture and quality.
  • Translate functional specifications and business requirements into architectural designs that include complex data models.
  • Create and maintain documentations for developed solutions.
  • Analyse current business practices, processes and procedures to identify future opportunities for leveraging Microsoft Azure data & analytics PaaS services.
  • Contribute to and enforce governance, standards and best practise within the Data Services team and the wider organisation.

  • In depth knowledge and understanding of data engineering and analysis with relevant experience in a similar role.

Applicants must demonstrate all of the criteria listed below, as relevant to the role: -

  • In depth knowledge and understanding of data engineering and analysis with relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in a programming language used widely in data analysis and engineering such as SQL, R, Python, Scala, Java, C#, etc.
  • Significant experience of working collaboratively with multiple internal and external stakeholders as part of a wider team such as business analysts, project managers, data analysts, BI developers, business owners etc.
